Conference Information

Conference Dates and Venue

The 2026 Nebraska Young Child Institute (NYCI) will be held June 16-17, 2026, at the Younes Conference Center-North at 707 Talmadge St in Kearney, NE 68845.

Presentation

Breakout speakers will present the accepted breakout session(s) during the assigned time. Each session is 60 minutes. The final date and time assigned will be sent to you by January 31, 2026.

Breakout Room

The breakout room will include a screen and projector, a podium, slide clicker, microphones, internet access, and chairs set up in theater style which can accommodate a maximum of 50-150 people depending on room size. The conference coordinator will contact you directly if alternative accommodation is requested.

  • You are required to bring your own laptop (if one is needed) as one will not be provided.
  • An audiovisual technician will be available onsite to troubleshoot technical/computer issues.
  • A room moderator will be assigned to your session. The role of this moderator is the following:
    • Start the session by introducing you.
    • Provide the phone number to contact the onsite audio-visual technician if you experience computer or connection issues. The room moderator cannot provide technical assistance.
    • Use cue cards to provide a countdown of remaining time as your session draws to an end.
    • Close doors when the session is at full capacity or at the start of the session.

Communication

Conference organizers will communicate additional information such as:

  • Assigned date(s) and time(s)
  • When registration opens on February 24, 2026 — paid registration is required of all speakers
  • Assigned breakout room(s) and breakout room setup 
  • How to submit conference materials
  • Final conference logistics

Deadlines

In preparation, you agree to meet all conference-related deadlines including the following:

  • March 26, 2026: Deadline for speakers to pay $60 to register for the conference. Registration opens February 24, 2026.
  • June 2, 2026: Deadline to submit presentation materials (e.g. PowerPoint, handouts, etc)
  • June 16, 2026: Conference check-in begins at 8am. When you arrive, please pick up your name badge and agenda at the designated speaker check-in table.

Cancellation

If it becomes necessary to cancel your session(s), use your best efforts to notify the conference coordinator (contact nyci@unl.edu) as soon as possible.

Speaker and Presentation Information

Speaker Travel and Registration Information
  • You agree to allow the NYCI to include the previously submitted speaker biographical information on the conference agenda.
  • It is your responsibility to make travel arrangements and pay the $60 conference registration fee.
  • You agree to present without an honorarium from the Nebraska Young Child Institute.
    • Please note: You may have other financial arrangements with NYCI sponsors or other organizations.
  • The NYCI may take photographs of the conference participants and speakers and may include images in social media of the conference. No video recordings will be made of your presentation.
  • The speaker’s green room will be available for you to prepare for your presentation and enjoy snacks and refreshments.

Presentation Material Submission Information
  • Slides: 
    • You are expected to bring an electronic copy of your presentation slides (if you use one) to the conference.
    • As a precaution, you are also expected to submit an electronic copy of the presentation prior to the conference. See the Deadlines section above for the submission deadline. The backup copy will be available to you should you encounter issues loading your PowerPoint in your breakout room.
    • You must be willing to add an opening/ending slide to your presentation (if you are using one) that includes the NYCI logo and QR code for attendees to complete a post-session evaluation. The opening/ending slides will be provided to you along with submission instructions in Spring 2026.
  • Handouts:
    • You can decide whether to share presentation materials with attendees. Any submitted handout materials will be made available to attendees for a limited time online as a PDF.
    • You will receive additional information with material submission instructions closer to the event.
    • You can indicate if you do not want to share a PDF version of your PowerPoint with attendees on the submission form.
  • Accessibility:
    • Your presentation must meet accessibility standards under federal law.

Presentation Information
  • Breakout sessions are 60 minutes in length.
  • You must be in your assigned room at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the session.
  • To the best of your knowledge, your presentation does not violate any proprietary or personal rights of others (including, but not limited to, any copyright, trademark, or privacy rights), is factually accurate, and contains nothing defamatory or otherwise unlawful or inappropriate. You have obtained all necessary licenses and permissions for any third-party intellectual property including, but not limited to, music, video or other media shown as part of your presentation.
  • Please review the copy of your proposal submission you should have received in your email when you submitted your proposal. If you have any changes to the proposal, please list them in the request changes section of this form. We cannot guarantee accommodation for any requested changes made after you submit this form.
